Bishan East grassroots leaders planned and organised the annual Lunar New Year Garden Party at the community park near block 181 on the Saturday evening of 27 February 2010. The event was hugely popular and welcomed by residents who looked forward to a night of good food and plentiful entertainment. Families and residents took this opportunity before the end of the Spring festival to have a gathering and to mingle among neighbours who live within the same estate.
The Guest-Of-Honour was Mr Wong Kan Seng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minster for Home Affairs, Member of Parliament for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC. Mr Wong was hosted by the Organising Chairman Mr Teo Keng Koon and his committee. In his impromptu speech, Mr Wong shared his view with residents that the Singapore economy is showing signs of recovery and urged Singaporeans to continue to work hard.
