On Saturday, 16 January 2010, 258 students from the Bishan East constituency received a total of $106,000 in scholarship and merit bursaries. The event was held at the Bishan Community Club and was attended by close to 500 students and proud parents.
A total of 151 scholarships and 107 merit bursaries were given out by Mr Wong Kan Seng, Deputy Prime Minister and and Minister for Home Affairs, Member of Parliament for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC. The awards are given as encouragement to students who did well in their academic studies in school.
